Root Canal Therapy

When a tooth becomes infected or badly decayed, the last resort to save it is to perform a root canal. The root canal procedure involves removing the pulp, or nerve, of the affected tooth and replacing it with a rubber insert. This will effectively cause the patient no more pain in that tooth. A crown is then placed over the tooth to restore both function and appearance. Excellent oral hygiene is required to prolong the lifespan of a root canal treated tooth.
